CASE STUDIES

#1 - Connecticut Orthopaedic Society & New England Hand Society

We started working with Susan Shaffman in 2003 and designed the CT Orthopedic Society’s website. Since then we have maintained a professional relationship due to the regular updates the site needs.

Susan is also affiliated with the New England Hand Society, in March 2009 when it was time to do some major updates to that site she found out that the company that was hired to design the site outsourced the work to a third party and there was no one there to fix her problem. She called on us and after some research we were able to come up with a solution at a reasonable rate.

This is not the first company we have come across that has hired companies who outsourced the work. Outsourcing has become a popular practice in todays marketplace; you should know what you’re getting and more importantly who is doing the work when you're paying for a service that is the face of your company.

We built the new site with additional functionality and Susan is now able to track membership fees, meeting registrations, allows for Power Point submissions, update an online directory of Doctors, and she is able to edit and add content at her convenience; all through one online interface.

Because of the content management system we put in place for the New England Hand Society, InSight Design Studios is now redesigning and implementing a similar system for the CT Orthopedic Society.

#2 - New Britain Museum of American Art

Tina Rice originally started helping the museums' in-house graphic designer fix issues on their site because that designer was a student and had limited experience with websites. Tina did this work pro-bono for a couple of months. Because of doing so she met some of the decision makers in the organization. When it came time to develop an educational area for their site they called on her services because of her knowledge and expertise.

Over the years Tina has become their go to online marketing person. She has headed up a couple of huge campaigns for the New Britain Museum of American Art and continues to do so. In April 2007 we installed 2 kiosks of Interactive Learning Games in their Art Lab. During this year long project she acted as art director/designer, collaborated with fellow artists and designers, meet with museum staff as well as created and presented work and ideas to various public groups.

In August 2008 InSight Design Studios redesigned and built an extremely robust web site that includes a Content Management System using PHP, MySQL and CSS, motion graphics, eMuseum, games, and members can pay their dues, join or make a donation. After the site was complete she provided a training session to several of the staff so that they could learn to maintain the site. Every now and then WE are called upon to make some minor adjustments that are beyond the scope of their training.

Currently we are waiting for a grant to come through for Podcasting. During the grant writing process we put together a mock site and ran a focus group survey to college students in order to gather data for the grant.

Because of this dedication and dedication to keeping up with technology, The New Britain Museum of American Arts' website has become a true marketing asset.
